JESSICA PEARSON

Like sirens calling from an ancient shore, the haunting three-part harmonies of Jessica Pearson & The East Wind will bind you in a timeless folkloric spell. Alchemizing roots, classic country, Americana and Celtic soundscapes, the trio spin tales of outlaw heroics, matriarchal power, resistance and resilience, and the unrelenting beauty of becoming who you are.
With a “Song of the Year” win in 2021, a nomination for "Performer of the Year" at Folk Music Ontario Awards 2024, and an upcoming two-part album produced by JUNO-winner Hill Kourkoutis featuring an all-women team, JPEW is rising up to offer a powerful musical battle cry against the status quo.
NAGHMEH & UÑAS ESCONDIDAS
8.00
Naghmeh:
Naghmeh is an Iranian-Canadian singer-songwriter based in Montreal. Singing in English, French, and Farsi, Naghmeh bridges language barriers and weaves cultural connections with diverse audiences through the magic of folk music.
A child of war and revolution, Naghmeh uses her musical platform to elevate the voice of the voiceless, and to raise awareness about global issues and social causes. If the Talking Heads and Patti Smith had a love child, and that kid grew up listening to Metallica in Iran, it would probably sound like Naghmeh.
Uñas Escondidas:
Uñas Escondidas is an emerging indie folk duo, based in Montréal, fronted by Honduran singer-songwriter Daniela Rivera-Servellón, accompanied by bouzuki player and producer Eeva Chevalier. The band plays an energetic banjo driven sound, willingly dancy, sparkled with dreamy and cinematic incursions.
With rhythms inspired in traditional Latin-American music and 2000’s emo, Uñas Escondidas offers a folk character endowed with a modern intensity. Their debut self-titled album was released in September 2022, followed by a live album released in 2024. Their next E.P. “Venues Escorpión” is currently cooking up.
MAKE P!NK BLACK AGAIN
11.00
Make P!nk Black Again is R. Flex’s answer to Make America Great Again, but way hotter, gayer, and clubbier. Part meme, part campaign, part hallucination, this immersive night riffs on 2000s Pink-era aesthetics (“There You Go,” “Most Girls,” “You Make Me Sick”) to critique racial ambiguity, nostalgia, and the colorblind fever dream of the music industry. With DJs, performances, and P!nk fashion chaos, this is a satire with basslines. Come dressed in pink, black, or both. Queer Thursday at Drom Taberna. Make fascism flinch. Make P!nk Black again.
