FULU MIZIKI KOLEKTIV
11.30

Fulu Miziki “the sound of garbage” in Lingala, is a band born in the Ngwaka district, veritable labyrinth of streets in Kinshasa, capital of the DRC. They define themselves as an eco-friendly-afro-futuristic-punk assembly straight from a future where humans have reconciled with the earth and with themselves. The produce a new music, which they call Twerkanda, a kind of explosive afro disco-house / post soukous, composed solely from instruments made from materials they themselves have recycled and assembled. For several years, its members have spent a great deal of time conceptualizing an orchestra made from salvaged objects found in garbage cans, instruments in constant mutation, always in search of new sounds.

Making their own instruments, performance costumes and masks is essential to their approach. Their unique sound carries a pan-african message of artistic liberation, peace and a harsh look at the ecological situation in the Democratic Republic of Cango and around the world. For the collective, everything can be reclaimed and re-enchanted.

THE RUCKUS
2.30

The Ruckus is an electrifying up-and-coming funk and soul band that blends vivacious energy with a deep appreciation for the musical traditions that inspire them.

Their sound is both familiar and fresh, driven by a powerful horn section, a tight rhythm section, and dynamic vocals that weave together rich musical textures.
